Buy of last week...

I had been yearning after these babies after seeing them in Wittner about 6 months ago. Realised about a week ago that they had, in fact, gone to sale. Not much of a sale, but sale nevertheless. Whilst in Melbourne over the weekend, I bravely ventured to the new South Warf DFO and found these in the outlet store. They're comfy and different. I love them :)

Also found this super cute Peter Alexander Nightie there with ruffle detail for would you believe.. $14. So comfy and warm. Not exactly perfect for the freezing ass weather we're having, but I'm wearing it anyway. So cute!!

I also grabbed a cute Varsity Black and white jacket form Dangerfield. Totally feel like a football jock from harvard now :)

Weekend Away in Melbourne

So I arrived in Melbourne late last night, yay! It is absolutely freezing which is even better. Melbourne makes me happy. It is full of eclectic, interesting places, great architecture and most importantly of all, fantastic fashion!

I am off to Brunswick, GPO, and the city. I never want to come home.

Why Tron Legacy is actually an ok movie...

Ok I'm not really going to defend the modern sequel per say, just attempt to understand it in a different light. Disney makes Tron, Tron Legacy inspires Opening Ceremony, Opening Ceremony create a little diffusion line in which clothing/accessories/shoes are inspired by the movie, I go to Japan's Opening Ceremony store, see the shoes there, not buy them and come home, Tron shoes go on sale and I then receive them 5 months later for my birthday. As far as I'm concerned I totally love that movie! Not only has it provided me with cheap Opening Ceremony shoes, but shoes that only like 100 people on the planet own, are water proof, comfortable and the coolest things since well... since THAT 21st dress I bought a few years ago.

Win for Opening Ceremony on this one!

Crocs, what a Croque.

It is freezing in Sydney today. Maybe not Melbourne or Japan winter cold, but for us 13degrees with strong winds and showers is bloody cold! Even though this is the case I was horrified to see these out in public being worn a) by a man b) by a man pushing a stroller and c)by a partially well dressed man in every other respect (coat, shirt, jeans scenario).
Crocs are bad enough alone on adults (who are not surgeons walking through theatres), but thinking your updating your wardrobe for winter and adding a sock?!! No no no no no.
Don't delude yourself by thinking this is even the smallest bit cute.

I will end this with a great quote from the movie 'Fired Up': You're not an old lady gardening or a baby on the beach."
Touche.

My latest and greatest accessory

This arrived for me today? My first iPhone... need i say more?

The Floppy Hat - No I'm not Amish

A fun purchase of mine from the Fashion Weekend 2011 at Moore Park this year. Even though it was not as good as last year, nor were the particular stores offered that brilliant, it still proved to be a fruitful expedition by me and my fashion school buddy.

MintyMeetsMunt provided me with this wonderful piece of millinery. It hides everything on bad hair days (including my face on bad pimple days) and the colour is amazing. Team with black, camel and green for an updated look this winter!

Tights as Pants - Why can't we ban Supre?

Olivia Wilde - I love you, but why??
 A sad example :(

I'm going to bring up a commonly spoken about topic, at least a common topic of the fashion world/fashion victims of the world as it were. The issue here is Tights-as-Pants (TAP hereafter). This somewhat tedious, moronic trend has become a pet hate of mine, so much so that I've had to make the whole thing one word AND an abbreviation. The TAP phenomenon started in approximately 2007, by who? Celebrities who thought their gym attire could become everyday street wear. Think again.

Walking around Sydney CBD only show cases a small percentage of the real TAP culprits who mostly live in the outer suburbs in places where suits are not mandatory work uniforms :( It just won't die.

The brave fashion editor of Shop Magazine, Justine Cullen, said in her opening article this month in regards to a similar gag-worthy topic (ass cheeks hanging out the bottom of denim shorts): 'Even when the fashion industry retaliated with this year's ladylike trend, skank-style went no where'. She speaks truth! Rather than skank-style (I have also managed to see some interesting shaped booties/breakfast hanging out with TAPping) this trend is daggy-skank. It's boring, no one looks good (no not even you 6ft something, size 6 girl), and I am sick of having it become so widely accepted as a 'look' that it makes me want to quit fashion school and become a surgeon. Just because you put your 'expensive' heels, a leather jacket or long semi-transparent cape-vest thing and a scarf with them, still does not render them a) stylish nor b) pants.

May they rest in peace... actually I don't care how they rest, just get them away from me!

More buys

Witchery - Gretchen Box Bag. I had to buy this especially since it was on sale for $99.95! Love love love!

Buys of last week

So I purchased myself a birthday present (it's Wednesday you know). As I was casually walking past the Swatch shop on the weekend, i began waxing nostalgia over my first watch as a kid, a navy blue Swatch. Since navy blue and I are no longer friends I thought I'd get something a bit different and less.... blue.

Therefore, Markus Linnenbrink, the German artist has designed two watches for Swatch and after half an hour of umming and ahhhing over which one to pick I decided on the melting skull head, I mean seriously, was there really any other option? Can't wait to wear it!

Hair to Dye for....

See what i did there? :)

Anyway, last night I decided very spontaneously to dye my terribly faded copper hair, the 550 Mahogany. Since I started dyeing my hair as a young teen, I have always used L'oreal Casting Creme. They have never let me down and provide this awesome mini conditioner bottle that makes my hair smell like Miss Dior Perfume and leaves it stupidly shiny. This is a miracle for someone who has not gone to her hairdresser for a haircut (sorry Brendan) in 6months and uses her GHD religiously.

The Fashion Blog Conundrum

2 weeks ago I was told ít was time for me to start a fashion blog. Why? I asked confused as the idea had never once crossed my addled fashion filled mind... "'because, it's all you ever think about" said the suggester. So after some deliberation on what i would call it, how i would structure it, what purpose it would serve for me etc... i came to the conclusion that this blog would become a new hobby for me.

I have never once had a proper hobby you see, unless you count reading countless Shop, Instyle, Vogue, Oyster, Russh, Nylon, Rolling Stone... (the list goes on) magazines and shopping to a point where i should probably just confess, that yes, I have an addiction. So now that blogs have become not only an avenue for putting personal streams of consciousness into the public realm and displaying your likes and dislikes of fashion trends and fashionable people everywhere, they are also providing a new somewhat anti-social (but very social at the same time) way of enabling this addiction of mine.

How will this turn out in the long run? I suppose we'll all just have to stay tuned.
